Team Member Spotlight: Kristi Farlow

Accounts payable for 21 of her 32 years with AZOR.
Kristi was originally a receptionist, then worked in customer service and later purchasing.

In your 32 years with AZOR, you’ve seen a lot of changes. Can you give us an example?
Yes, we had to manually key in EVERY SINGLE order at the end of the day. We were here until 8 pm or later many nights.

Today, the average person keeps a job for around 24 months. You’ve been with AZOR for 32 years now. Why so long?
Butch and Julia. I feel like I have grown up with them (and many others). I consider them my family.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?
Well, I’m OCD and I’m also a numbers person, so I really like it when the numbers all work out and everything reconciles nicely.

What’s your least favorite thing about your job?
I really don’t like it when others don’t follow the correct protocol. Having to be a detective and track things down because they didn’t get done. I call it the A-Z FBI.

With 32 years of experience and wisdom under your belt, what are some business philosophies you’ve developed?
Don’t take things home. Work while you’re at work and be home when you’re home. Technology has changed tremendously, and you have to work on developing your people skills.

With your current knowledge and wisdom, what advice would you give to your 20 year old self?
Don’t worry so much. No body is perfect, so don’t stress so much, especially with kids.Do you have any hobbies? I love to shop. I read a lot and I’m an outdoors person.Oh, I also love dogs. I am down to only 5 now!!!

Can you give us a funny “Kristi” story?
I called in one morning and told them I’d be about an hour late. When I finally arrived, they asked me where I had been. I told them I went and got married. Obviously Butch made me take the day off.
